Mutton Bustin'

The Mutton Bustin' event sponsored by State Farm Insurance is a huge crowd pleaser. It is a fun-filled competition where a few lucky children climb on the back of a dashing sheep and hold on for 6 exciting seconds! The audience goes wild as these young rodeo contestants make thrilling rides and fun-filled dismounts.

Each participant receives a souvenir trophy, a commemorative Mutton Bustin' bandana, water bottle, and back pack, courtesy of State Farm Insurance. The top rider receives a hand cast Mutton Bustin' Championship belt buckle. All contestants leave with a memory of an arena-packed audience cheering them on!

The Mutton Bustin' event takes place during every rodeo performance, excluding the Finals.

Participation is limited to boys and girls between the ages of 4-7 and weighing less than 55 lbs., at the time of competition.

Mutton Bustin entries are closed for the 2009 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Contestants will be randomly selected from a pool of qualified entries. Participants will be notified by December 1.

*Note* While not guaranteed, there may be additional opportunities for interested contestants to be selected as a participant through sponsor related promotions.  Such opportunities will be posted on this webpage as they become available prior to the start of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
