Agricultural Mechanics Committee
The Ag Mechanics Committee coordinates and manages the Junior Agricultural Mechanics Show held during the last week of the Stock Show & Rodeo. The Junior Agricultural Mechanics Show is open to qualifying Texas FFA and 4-H members who construct projects such as agricultural machinery, trailers, livestock equipment, outdoor equipment, and tractor restoration. Committee members will be involved in hosting the event as well as set-up, soliciting funds and prizes, and providing hospitality to our exhibitors.
Ag Fair Committee
The Family Fair Committee helps organize and support the events and fairgrounds entertainment that patrons have come to enjoy each year during the Stock Show & Rodeo. The Family Fair area is comprised of the carnival, educational displays, the Food Court and pavilions. Along with supporting the exhibitors and assisting with the activities in the Family Fair area, the committee is responsible for the landscaping and overall fairgrounds development and presentation.
Ambassador Committee
The Ambassador Committee promotes the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo throughout South and Central Texas by participating in many events, festivals/fairs, livestock shows and parades from March through mid-December. The Ambassadors participate in speaking to a variety of civic organizations such as 4-H and FFA Clubs to assist in developing interest, participation and attendance at all San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo events. In addition, they host Rodeo Star Experience patrons during each Rodeo performance.
Auction Committee
The Auction Committee solicits contributions for the purchase of animals during the Junior Livestock Auction. The Auction Committee provides individuals and businesses the opportunity to financially support our exhibitors in their pursuit of education.
Bar-B-Que Committee
The Bar-B-Que Committee produces and coordinates the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Annual Bar-B-Que Cook-off & Festival. The Bar-B-Que Cook-off is one of the largest BBQ cook-offs in the state of Texas and is held in January each year. The fun-filled weekend kicks off on Friday night with live music and on Saturday includes a Bar-B-Que Trade Show, children's games and activities, shopping, live music and over 300 cooking teams!
Calf Scramble Committee
The Calf Scramble Committee's primary purpose is to raise funds for the Calf Scramble Program. The committee also coordinates the Calf Scramble event held during each Rodeo performance. The committee is dedicated to supporting FFA and 4-H students in the purchase of a breeding animal to be raised and exhibited the following year at the Stock Show. In addition, the committee organizes and oversees the annual Boots 'N Shoot clay shooting fundraising event which supports the Calf Scramble program.
Cowboy Church Committee
The Cowboy Church Committee provides an opportunity for fellowship by coordinating a non-denominational worship service held on Sundays during the Stock Show & Rodeo. A special effort is made to reach out to exhibitors, patrons and San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo volunteers who give their time on Sundays during the Rodeo and rodeo contestants who are on the road and unable to worship at their home churches.
Cowboy Golf Classic Committee The Cowboy Golf Classic is a sub-committee of Rodeo Contestant Hospitality. We are a
group of volunteers who strongly support the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, the Pro-Rodeo
Hall of Fame and the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. To support our mission, it is
imperative that each member fulfills his or her obligations to this sub-committee to receive
your credentials for Rodeo each year. If for any reason these requirements cannot be met, a
written explanation must be submitted to the Sub-Committee Chairman of Cowboy Golf
Classic and the Chairman of Rodeo Contestant Hospitality prior to the event.
Craft Beer Committee
The Craft Beer Committee oversees and hosts activities in the Craft Beer Tap Room. This committee works diligently to ensure that the craft beers poured in the Tap Room are some of the finest available. Craft Beers are highlighted via educational tasting's and samplings organized by the committee throughout the eighteen days of the Stock Show & Rodeo.
Fajita Corral Committee
The Van De Walle Fajita Corral began serving fajitas in 1986 to raise money for the Scholarship Fund. The group did not become an official committee until 2005. Volunteers have cooked and sold thousands of fajitas, tacos, bbq and more.
Frontier Club Committee
The Frontier Club Committee provides support and oversight of the restaurants and clubs for rodeo patrons, volunteers and life members. There are both public and membership-only venues for guests and rodeo fans to enjoy during the Stock Show & Rodeo. These venues include The Saddles and Spurs Club, The Terrace Club and The Frontier Club. Membership fees help support the Scholarship Fund and the Junior Livestock Auction.
Go Rodeo Roundup Committee
The Go Rodeo Roundup Committee hosts one of the largest fundraisers for the Scholarship Fund. Committee member duties include coordination and solicitation of door prizes, silent and live auction items, decoration and theme planning and selling tickets to the annual event.
Grounds and Credentials Committee
The Grounds and Credentials Committee serve as the first welcoming point for volunteers, rodeo participants, and personnel who enter the fairgrounds. The committee is responsible for distribution of parking stickers, fairgrounds passes and committee badges, questions about parking, items left or misplaced on the fairgrounds.
Hall of Fame Committee
The Hall of Fame Committee is responsible for gathering and organizing all information regarding the history of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The committee hosts the Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony. During the Rodeo, the Hall of Fame Committee operates the Hall of Fame building and helps patrons, sponsors and donors who are passing through, learn about those inducted into the Hall of Fame, the origins of the Stock Show & Rodeo and the rich history of the Rodeo.
Horse Show Committee
The Horse Show Committee coordinates and manages many different events, including a Charreada competition, Youth Rodeo, Team and Breakaway Ropings, and much more. The committee also handles the unloading and stalling of Horse Show and Pro Rodeo contestants and their horses. This includes checking health papers on all horses entering the fairgrounds. In addition, the committee educates patrons about horses and the sport of rodeo through the interactive Horse Discovery area. The committee also manages the on-site feed stores.
Hospitality Committee
The Hospitality Committee extends a warm welcome to guests as they enter and move about the fairgrounds. It is the goal of the Hospitality Committee to ensure that all guests enjoy their rodeo experience. This is accomplished by being highly visible, extremely helpful and very approachable. The committee supports the efforts of the Marketing Department by providing attendees with up-to-date information, schedules and maps, as well as aiding guests in locating their destinations, ATM machines, lost family members and more. The Hospitality Committee embodies the true spirit of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo by delivering extraordinary service with a smile.
International Committee
The International Committee strengthens relationships with leaders of Mexico and other visiting countries with agricultural interests. The International Room is designated for meetings and filled with pertinent information on various subjects related to Texas, livestock and agriculture. The information provided and relationships built by the committee benefit and promote the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo agricultural industry.
Invitational Golf Tournament Committee
The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo's Invitational Golf Tournament Committee organizes and hosts the annual Tee'R Up Invitational Golf Tournament.
Junior Shoot-Out Committee
The Junior Shoot-Out Committee organizes and administers a youth clay target competition for Texas 4-H and FFA members during the first week of the Stock Show & Rodeo. Shooting clinics with classroom and field instruction are taught by industry professionals for contestants, parents and coaches. The purpose of the Junior Shoot-Out is to promote excellence in the shooting sports and academic achievement through attention to education, commitment and gratitude.
Let's Rodeo Ball Committee
The Let's Rodeo Ball Committee produces one of the major fundraising events for the Scholarship Fund. The Ball is held in January in the Freeman Coliseum and provides a spectacular night of first-class entertainment, dining and dancing.
Livestock Committee
The Livestock Committee assists with all aspects of the Livestock Show. From welcoming contestants as they arrive on the grounds, to the operational set-up of the show rings, the Livestock Committee has a place for everyone among its 16 subcommittees. They assist with over 12,500 contestants and more than 25,000 livestock entries that pass through the gates each year. Duties may include: leading contestants through check-in, distributing information, assisting in the loading and unloading of animals and equipment, and assisting with the auctions and scholarship ceremonies. During the Rodeo, many of the subcommittees run 24 hours a day, allowing volunteers the flexibility to work around their daily schedules.
Medical Committee
The Medical Committee is made up of medical professionals, including physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, athletic trainers and others with medical training. The committee provides basic first aid and emergency services to visitors, volunteers, committee members, exhibitors, staff and competitors during the annual Stock Show & Rodeo, as well as during several other fundraising events. Membership is subject to meeting specific criteria and guidelines for the Medical Committee.
Military Affairs Committee The Military Affairs Committee assists the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in fostering relationships with the local branches of military.
Operations Committee
The Operations Committee is made up of dedicated, hard-working members that work before, during and after the Stock Show & Rodeo. The primary responsibilities of the Operations Committee include setting up, maintaining and breaking down the rodeo arena inside the AT&T Center, and the various facades, tent wraps and signs around the fairgrounds. They acquire the equipment needed by all committees for the setup and maintenance of their various events, acquire and distribute supplies and materials for committees, provide signage for various events and committees, perform minor construction for various projects throughout the year, and assist other committees as needed.
Public Affairs Committee
The Public Affairs Committee is responsible for the greeting media outlets, transporting media crews throughout the fairground and gathering information for surveys. Throughout the year, the committee will assist with promoting the Rodeo at various events. A communications sub-committee serves as the voice for announcements made on the fairgrounds.
Raffle Ticket Committee
The Raffle Ticket Committee sells tickets for the annual raffle held during the final performance of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The committee supports Texas youth by raising funds for the purchase of animals during the Junior Livestock Auctions. Throughout the calendar year, this committee sells raffle tickets to individuals and companies wishing to enter for a chance to win an array of prizes. The committee also has various booths to sell raffle tickets to patrons.
Rodeo Contestant Hospitality Committee
The Rodeo Contestant Hospitality Committee greets rodeo contestants and their immediate family while they are competing in San Antonio. They serve meals to contestants for each Rodeo performance. The committee hosts a contestant autograph session, which enables contestants to interact with the fans. Moreover, the committee organizes the Mutton Bustin’ events inside the A&T Center. The Rodeo Contestant Hospitality Committee also oversees the Cowboy Golf Classic Tournament during the annual Stock Show & Rodeo. Proceeds from the Cowboy Golf Classic Tournament benefit the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund and the ProRodeo Hall of Fame.
Rodeo Retail Committee
The Rodeo Retail Committee assists the retail vendors who provide San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo patrons with a diverse shopping experience. Farm and ranching equipment and supplies as well as the latest fashions in western clothing, furniture, jewelry and art are all displayed and sold during the Rodeo. Volunteers of the committee assure continued excellence, quality and diversity of the retail vendors.
Rodeo Ticket Committee
The Rodeo Ticket Committee assists in the selling of Rodeo and carnival tickets. These volunteers work with area businesses by providing online links for ticket purchases and selling tickets at various places of business.
S.A.L.E. For Kids Committee
The S.A.L.E. for Kids Committee hosts a fundraiser each year that includes a live and silent auction, fully catered dinner, live music and dancing. Event proceeds benefit the Junior Livestock Auction and the Scholarship Fund.
School Tours Committee
The School Tours Committee offers a fun and educational program designed for young people to learn about the rodeo, livestock and the important role agriculture plays in the economy. Kindergarten through third grade students are guided around the fairgrounds by local 4-H and FFA high school tour guides. The students get a taste of Texas heritage and witness first-hand the fun and excitement offered at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The School Tours Committee also hosts the Youth Day competitions and festivities on the fairgrounds.
Souvenir Committee
The Souvenir Committee sells the official Rodeo merchandise during the Rodeo as well as at various community-wide events. Volunteers also sell advertising on benches and barrels that are placed throughout the fairgrounds.
Trail Ride Committee
The Trail Ride Committee works with the Trail Riders Association in its efforts to promote the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. South and Central Texans give up the comforts of home and take to the open road on horseback and in wagons to celebrate our western heritage. The ride concludes on the first Saturday of the Stock Show & Rodeo in grand fashion as each of the trail ride groups are recognized as they ride into the AT&T Center.
Western Art Committee
The Western Art Committee holds a Western Art Competition for high school students in South Central Texas. The top judged students in this competition are awarded scholarships. The winning pieces are exhibited during the month of January at the Briscoe Western Art Museum and during the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in February. Committee members work with teachers throughout South Central Texas to encourage their students to participate in the contest. Committee members also engage with guests at the Western Art exhibit during the Stock Show.
Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive Committee
The Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive Committee produces the annual parade that kicks off the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. This parade features beautiful longhorn cattle, colorfully decorated wagons, dancing groups and several other festivities over the weekend. Many infantry groups and native heritage groups are also a part of this amazing display of western heritage and culture at its finest.
Wildlife & Natural Resources Committee
The Wildlife and Natural Resources Committee produces the Texas Wildlife Expo that provides patrons an opportunity to understand, appreciate, learn to protect, and enjoy the Texas outdoors.
Wine Committee
The Wine Committee produces a wine competition each fall in which hundreds of the finest native Texas wines, and wines from across the United States are showcased, sampled and judged by an exclusive panel of hand-selected judges. Proceeds from The Cellar benefit the Scholarship Fund for viticulture programs. Throughout the year, wine events are held at participating restaurants featuring our award-winning wines.
