The San Antonio Livestock Exposition Invitational Golf Tournament sounds impressive, doesn't it? And so it was. The first annual two-day SALE Invitational Tournament was held at the Flying L Golf Resort in Bandera, September 19-20.
Friday's and Saturday's tournaments started out with beautiful, cool mornings for the approximately 260 golfers. After having breakfast tacos, the players began by participating in the pre-tournament contests. A shotgun start at 11 a.m. sent the teams off on their fun round of golf. Expert golf committee cooks prepared chicken and beef fajitas, Kiolbassa Sausage, and brisket at various food stations located around the golf course. SALE's own Fajita Corral committee joined the fun as one of the participating teams. They cooked their famous ribs for everyone. No one could say they were hungry at the end of the day, that's for sure.
Awards parties with plenty of door prizes were held on both days. The winning team for Friday's Tournament was none other than SALE's illustrious president's team appropriately titled, Candy and Steve Bridges. Steve proudly donned his new silver belt buckle presented to the winning sponsor along with a rodeo suite for a performance of the 2009 show.
Saturday's winning team was long-time supporter and sponsor, S. E. Michael King.
Mike won a Golden Corral table at the 2009 Go Western Gala event and a commemorative silver buckle as well. Second and Third place prizes were also presented.
